Addiction Counselor

There are different levels of addiction counselors: CAC, Masters, Ph.D. In general, the addiction counselor is trained to work with a group or individual suffering from addiction. The addiction can be of a substance: alcohol, narcotics, drugs, food, or it can be behavioral: Sex, gambling, spending, for example. The training and education of the addiction counselor will determine the types of therapies that are utilized. Generally, a person trying to break the cycle of addiction will need the help of an addiction counselor. It is a specialized field that requires specialized knowledge.
