Like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Al-Anon is a twelve-step mutual support program for people who have been affected by someone who suffers from an addiction. The wife of Bill Wilson (one of the founders of AA) began Al-Anon. Meetings are free and open to anyone who wants to recover from the effects of someone else’s addiction. The Al-Anon program is based upon the 12 Steps and Principles.
